Vehicle Re-registration
A used car changes owner, or a car owner moves from one registration district to another: in these cases, the vehicle must be re-registered.
We also operate in the following cities: ESSEN, BOTTROP, DUISBURG, KLEVE, RECKLINGHAUSEN, MÜLHEIM AN DER RUHR, MARL, WESEL, OBERHAUSEN and GELSENKIRCHEN.
Re-registering a car: which documents?
- Vehicle registration certificate part II
- Vehicle registration certificate part I
- Current license plates
- HU report (if not current on registration certificate part I or hard to read)
- Electronic insurance confirmation (eVB)
- Power of attorney
- SEPA direct debit mandate
- For private individuals – identity card / residence permit / passport – original
- For companies – trade registration and identity card
- For GmbH – commercial register extract and copy of the identity card
Notes and special features
With effect from 01.01.2015, you can keep your last used license plate nationwide when moving, provided the vehicle is still registered. In this case, the license plates do not need to be presented during the re-registration/registration and can remain on the vehicle.
